Dayspring Schools in Timor-Leste is one of the easiest ways to improve the lives of 70% of children who have no opportunity to receive preschool and kindergarten education. The process of starting a school

Available Teachers

Locate teachers who have studies under Dr Hosseini at University and have returned to their homes.

Submit application

Along with the support of the Chief of the Village and community put forward a request.

Meet and greet

Organise a visit to the Chief of the Village, parents and community to establish the need and collaboration.

Secure a spot

Put in place a plan with venue, enrolment, teaching promotion and resourcing requirements. Begin the build process.

Florence was a teacher in Australia. She loved teaching children and helping the needy in her community. In 1954, Florence and her husband Harold left their comfortable life in Australia and moved to what was then Portuguese Timor.
Florence found Timor to be beautiful and Timorese very friendly. She wrote that people mix well with all races and classes and felt in her heart that Timor was “God’s island”.
She started to teach English in her home. Florence and her husband helped the sick and needy. They organised prayer sessions with the community. The study of the English language enabled some of her students to go and work as nurses in Darwin and Brisbane in Australia. This is the work we aim to continue.
